In my small jewellery workshop I create unique pieces by fusing dichroic glass.
Dichroic glass was originally developed by NASA for use on the space shuttle, but recently has been in the public domain for use in jewellery and other small fused glass items.
Dichroic means di = two, chroic = colour. The main characteristic of this glass is that it has a transmitted colour and a completely different reflected colour. Depending on the angle viewed, either can be seen. The effect is stunning, eye-catching, full of the Tiree light and colours.
Each piece of jewellery is handcrafted using a variety of methods and the glass is fused using traditional techniques in a specialist glass kiln.
